Knowledge is Power: Why You Should Ask Questions

At HootSmile Family Dentistry, we provide comfortable, affordable dental care. Part of that comfort is the ability to talk about your treatment options. The Canadian Dental Association recommends asking questions, and we couldn’t agree more!

It sounds simple enough, but sometimes we feel reluctant to ask questions. There is no need to feel that way. You will be able to make a better decision if you understand the dental procedure that is recommended to you. The final decision about how and when to proceed with any treatment is yours.

Questions to ask:

  • Can I see pictures of the procedure? What will it look like when it is done?
  • How many times has the dentist done this procedure?
  • How long it will take?
  • How much it will cost?
  • Is it possible that it will need to be redone in the future?
  • Are there alternatives to the procedure and if so, what are the pros and cons of each?

If you have already left the dental office without asking questions, you can always call back later. Be careful about sourcing information from the internet, as it can be unreliable.
